Circling the Square

Safely Open

Posted by Bill Lovell on

Christ Church Carrollton is preparing to safely open our main worship service on Sunday, May 17, at 10:30am. After an unprecedented shut-down of sixty days due to COVID-19, we are looking forward to gathering again to pray, study God's word, and share fellowship in Christ.

Be assured we plan to do it carefully and in compliance with the law. We'll be sanitizing surfaces; everyone is being asked to wear a mask and be prepared to keep the prescribed social distance; anyone who is sick is being urged to stay home; and those who have been identified as particularly vulnerable are being advised to think twice before coming.

Our liturgy will remain the same as we have used over the last several  weeks, with just two hymns, no greeting, no refreshments, and no collection plate. We will also not have community Bibles available and only limited service sheets. Kids are welcome, but there will be no nursery or Sunday school. Our goal is to provide a tight service in approximately an hour to an hour-and-fifteen-minutes.

Please note the preacher will preach without a mask, and the music team will sing without masks, but the pulpit and music performance areas have been set ten-feet-back from the congregation, who will be masked. The preacher and music team members will be masked when seated.

To make sure we are prepared, those who plan to attend this week's service should email Deacon Joe Scott (joescott116 at gmail.com) or Deacon Colton Huckaby (colton.huckaby at gmail.com). They and the other deacons will have seating pre-arranged for you and your group when you arrive.

For the foreseeable future, we plan to continue to stream our Sunday service via Facebook Live. You can watch the service in real time or check out our entire catalogue of recorded services on the church's Facebook page (www.facebook.com/christchurchcarrollton).

Here is a link to the session's complete Guidelines for Worship. In these guidelines, the session has tried to balance many viewpoints. Please know we are doing our best to listen and to compromise, as we seek unreservedly to glorify Christ and fulfill the work he has entrusted to us.

While significant aspects of our church’s life have been changed by the COVID-19 crisis, our core commitments to worshipping Christ and serving one another and our neighbors in his name have not changed. By God's grace, Christ Church Carrollton is here to help in every way we can.
